12,357 reasons for going quiet on the blog

One of my readers (okay, my sister-in-law) recently asked me whether I was still writing this blog. And I realised I'd been quiet on here for way too long.

But I have had a really good reason well, 12,357 good reasons in fact.

12,357 is the number of kilometres between Salt Lake City, Utah, where, until August, we were living, and the Gold Coast, our usual home base in Australia where we're now re-settling. It took us a solid four months to make the transition from the US to Australia to wrap up school and work, to sell our home in Salt Lake, to take some time out to see the sights on the way back here, and to find ourselves once again in our old stomping ground, heads spinning and 'to do' lists bulging. And it took almost all of the physical and emotional energy we had.

But here we are, almost entirely and happily resettled again.

And so, here I am, back to writing this blog.

But change, as we discovered, is great for fresh perspectives, and so I plan to tackle my blog a bit differently going forward. Instead of one long blog post a week, I plan to write shorter, more focused posts once a day (or every second day; let's be realistic!). The new posts will be more like ideas and thoughts I have around the topic of #kindercalmer — being kinder to ourselves and calmer in the world  rather than long essays (as it were) about everything I've read and discovered about a topic and how it's helped me to feel less stressed and more joyful. I'll continue to add links to handy resources (because I can't help myself!), but they'll be at the end of a quicker read. The posts will still be (hopefully) highly useful, just snappier. It's about saving us all time, and simply stoking the fires in our own minds, hearts and lives about what would make us feel kinder and calmer. They'll be little conversation starters, if you like.

I hope you like the idea. Let's give it a go, hey?

And thanks for your patience with my blog. You may not have noticed my absence, or you may have wondered whether everything was okay with me. Either way, I'm glad you're here now. X

And because we're all about kindness and calmness, here are some great sunsets from our travels ...

Chasing the sunsets ... Salt Lake City on one of our last nights in that beautiful, friendly city

And ... touchdown. A Gold Coast sunset
